Contoocook River Canoeing
September 26 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT$15
We’ll be doing a DAY TRIP to the canoe the Cantoocook River in New Hampshire. We’ll meet at the Cantoocook River Canoe Company at 9 am (address below), put in canoes there, and head upriver!
During our trip, we’ll paddle west through the City of Concord’s 200 acres Lehtinen Park and beyond into the Mast Yard State Forest. There will be places to picnic, swim, and great spots to fish for bass, pickerel, and trout. The scenery along the river is forested with beaches here and there. We will enjoy the abundance of wildlife such as osprey, otters, ducks, blue herons, kingfishers, beaver, deer, bear, and many other beautiful creatures that make their home along the Contoocook River. Upriver approximately 2 miles there’s Daisy Beach, a great beach for swimming and picnicking.
The canoe rental is for the entire day, as long as we have the canoes back by 5 pm. We do have some flexibility since we’re departing/returning to the same spot.
Bring your own lunch, we’ll find a great spot to stop and enjoy our meal.
Please reply by Saturday, Sept 19th, so I may confirm our numbers to the canoe company.
Cost: $15/person, assuming 2 people per canoe. You can either pay by Venmo to @ReadingTroop702 (preferred) or bring cash or check to Chuck Lloyd at 388 Franklin Street.
